…. Yesterday we were the FIRST trade to report that Streetz 102.9 was off the air… the proper ettiquite for stealing is to give credit!! (talking to the other trades) Word from my sources Alfred Liggins allegedly ceased all Radio One concerns for few days (that’s a monumental task right now) to shut the Atlanta station Streetz 102.9 DOWN and they said it got ugly.  They said the legal team from Radio One was not playing and earned (the staff’s paycut) money for the assignment. (The sentence before this is in jest and alleged, of course) You know employees are thinking that and I would be too…

That Beat LA flashback piece REALLY was a time warp for me…..WOW. I moved to LA in the early 90’s with Columbia Records. John Monds was the P.D. at the Beat and really made a brotha feel welcome in LA. Corndog and all those cats were great. We had a lot of fun back then. That’s when people like Cliff Russell, Eric Thrasher, Fut, Maurice Warfield (Mr. “tryin’ to stay ‘pos”) and a host of others were in the mix. All that West Coast Dre’ shit dominated the radio, The Fugees were trying to find a voice and radio was trying to deny Mariah because we couldn’t decide whether or not to embrace her “multi-culturalness”. Records and radio were still fun back then. That was before Radio Facts! Hey, remember you put me on the cover and I got fired soon after?! Thanks for opening the door for me to go to MCA so Ken Wilson and I could continue our march on ‘Remy’. Extremely proud of you bruh, continuing to weather the industry storm after all these years. Glad we could help each other make a little money in the game. Much love. Carmen still believes that R.F. is THE last word on industry news.
