TV One Premieres Go-Go Music Documentary – The Beat Don’t Stop

Radio Facts: Radio Now 100.9-FM WNOU and Radio Now 92.1-FM KROI announces a new Afternoon Show for listeners in Indianapolis and Houston. Tino Cochino Radio will debut today on Radio Now 100.9 and Radio Now 92.1.

Tino Cochino is joined by Raquel, DJ Nicasio and their producer Ronnie Ranson for the show. The addition of these two new stations brings them to 50 affiliates including eight Top 25 markets.

In making the announcement, Deon Levingston, General Manager/VP of Radio One Indianapolis, offered, “We think the vibe of this new show will really resonate in Indianapolis and Houston.”

“The excitement and energy Tino Cochino brings to radio is just what you want to hear in the afternoon” said General Manager/VP of Radio One Houston, Pam McKay.

Shawn Nunn, President of YEA Networks added, “We’re excited about bringing another YEA Networks show to Radio One. Paired with The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show, listeners in Houston and Indy will have two drive-time shows with great personalities, content, promotions, celebrity news and chats. It’s a 1-2 punch for any Top 40 station today.”

Tino Cochino Radio can be heard weekdays on 100.9 FM WNOU from 3 pm – 7 pm and on 92.1 FM KROI from 2 pm – 6 pm.

Radio One Reduces Salaries by 10-20% Amidst COVID

Yesterday Radio One issued a letter to the staff announcing that they had to reduce base compensation/wages by 10% or 20% depending on the employee's salary. Employees making $100,000 or less get a reduction of 10% and those making more than $100,000 get a reduction of 20%. The reductions will be reflective in employees' paychecks starting April 24 until further announcement but a tentative date has been set for Sept 30, provided business returns to normal. Entercom and several other radio corporations are making the same changes in order to save jobs.

Radio One Layoffs Affect Sales and Promotions

Today, we got many copies of the letter that Radio One sent employees about layoffs. While we didn't get many names, we do know it affected sales and promotions the most across the board and some jocks. Included in the letter was ...

 Today is an extremely difficult day for all of us at Radio One and Reach. 

As you are aware, we are faced with a time of uncertainty and it is not business as usual.  Our businesses have been dramatically affected by the effect of the Coronavirus on our advertisers.  We have experienced significant cancellations for second quarter and new business is coming in at a trickling rate. The decline in revenues forces us to react soundly and appropriately to ensure that we are able to operate our businesses going forward. 

Unfortunately, this meant having to make very difficult decisions to furlough or layoff many employees, across all divisions of the company today.  While we hope to bring many of them back, unfortunately at this time we do not know when this crisis will end.

The former PD will now concentrate on his midday on-air duties. Radio One/Washington, DC, OM/PD Kathy Brown will now oversee WWIN's programming. Watts and Oprah dated in the early 80s and Oprah admitted she was devastated when she found out he was married with children. HERE
