A woman was attacked by a stranger in a random assault in Long Island City, Queens. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon as the victim, who has not been named, was leaving a Chipotle on Jackson Avenue and 43rd Street around 1 p.m.
Brutal Attack and Attempted Defense
The attacker, identified as 34-year-old Adrianna Garcia, approached the victim and began assaulting her without any provocation. The victim tried to defend herself with an umbrella, but Garcia grabbed it, broke it in half, and used it as a weapon against her. The attack left the victim with bloody wounds, now covered in bandages.
Intervention by a Good Samaritan
Jerome David, who was walking behind the victim, witnessed the assault. He saw the initial contact between the two women and immediately intervened. David managed to restrain Garcia despite being attacked himself, resulting in his glasses being broken. He chased her down and pinned her to the ground until the police arrived.
Police Response and Arrest
The police responded within minutes and took Garcia into custody. She has been charged with second and third-degree assault. The victim expressed her gratitude towards David, believing his quick action saved her from more severe injuries.
