UMG’s Everything Jazz Platform Centralizes Catalog, Storytelling for Global Audience

Universal Music Group has built a direct-to-fan jazz destination that bypasses traditional streaming gatekeepers, giving labels and rights holders a new channel to monetize premium catalog and control artist narratives.

Everything Jazz, launched last Thursday by UMG’s Global Classics & Jazz division, combines retail, editorial content, and artist interviews on a single platform. For publishers and songwriters whose work appears in jazz catalogs, this represents a consolidated marketplace where UMG can showcase premium vinyl reissues, new releases, and long-form storytelling without algorithmic interference.

The platform operates across multiple territories following a phased rollout: France, United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, Canada, and the United States. This geographic expansion signals UMG’s confidence that jazz audiences will engage with a dedicated platform rather than relying solely on Spotify or Apple Music discovery.

Developed in partnership with Blue Note, Verve, Impulse!, Decca, Fontana, and ECM, Everything Jazz features curated retail offerings alongside exclusive artist interviews with Samara Joy, Julian Lage, Gregory Porter, Jon Batiste, Brandee Younger, Jeff Goldblum, Maya Delilah, and Jacob Collier. The platform also includes in-depth features on legacy artists including John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones, and Charles Lloyd.

The launch coincides with (Re)Discover Jazz, a month-long educational series of 20 digital lessons exploring the genre’s history, subgenres, artists, and labels during Jazz Appreciation Month. According to UMG, the initiative attracted hundreds of registered fans following an exclusive January 2026 preview to mailing list subscribers and will expand into multiple languages.

Tina Poyser, Vice President of Everything Jazz, stated the platform reflects how “jazz is today, as both a growing, global movement and through thriving local scenes around the world.” She emphasized that “the future of jazz is deeply entwined with its fascinating history and diverse recorded legacy.”

Don Was, President of Blue Note Records, praised the platform’s combination of “great storytelling with expert curation.” Jamie Krents, President and CEO of Universal Music Enterprises and Verve Label Group, called it “incredibly exciting to see a store dedicated to the best in jazz launched on a global scale.”

Everything Jazz has secured partnerships with major jazz festivals including Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Love Supreme, and the EFG London Jazz Festival. These partnerships include festival activations, exclusive product offerings, and on-site editorial coverage.

Watch for language expansion of the (Re)Discover Jazz curriculum and additional festival partnerships beyond the four currently announced.
