About Kevin Ross & Radio Facts

Radio Facts is one of the longest?running digital platforms dedicated to Black radio, R&B, music publishing, and the people who power the music and broadcast industry behind the scenes. Founded by media entrepreneur Kevin Ross, Radio Facts has evolved from a small email tip sheet into a trusted authority site at RadioFacts.com for programmers, talent, executives, publishers, creators, and serious fans around the world.

Kevin Ross: Founder, Publisher, Historian

Kevin Ross is the founder, publisher, and editor?in?chief of Radio Facts, and a veteran of more than three decades in radio and the music industry. His career spans programming, on?air talent, promotion, voice work, publishing, and digital media, giving him a rare 360?degree perspective on how records get broken, catalogs get built, and culture moves through radio and now AI?driven digital audio.

Raised in Buffalo, New York and educated at institutions including the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts and the University at Buffalo, Ross combined formal training in the arts with hands?on experience in music retail and radio. Early in his journey he worked at Turtles Records in Atlanta, then stepped behind the mic at WIGO, a station known for producing influential Atlanta radio announcers. He went on to work in major markets such as Los Angeles and Denver, gaining firsthand insight into how powerful Black?targeted stations could shape national taste and opportunity for artists, songwriters, and executives.

Beyond Radio Facts, Ross has launched additional ventures, including The Industry Dot Biz and other media properties focused on Black entertainment, entrepreneurship, and digital publishing. Across every project, his mission is consistent: champion Black talent, tell the real stories behind the business, and help professionals navigate an industry that never stops changing.

The Origin of Radio Facts

Radio Facts began in 1995 as a grassroots email tip sheet created by Kevin Ross to share news, job leads, and insider information with his radio peers. At a time when there was no dedicated digital platform speaking directly to urban and R&B programmers, announcers, Black executives, and Black music professionals, Ross used his own experience to fill that gap.

What started as a simple email evolved into RadioFacts.com in the late 1990s, making it one of the early online trade destinations for the Black music and broadcast community. Over the years, Ross merged related properties such as The Industry Dot Biz into the Radio Facts brand, unifying his coverage of radio, music, music publishing, and Black entertainment under one umbrella.

Today, Radio Facts stands as a documented part of Black music and media history, preserving stories, careers, catalog wins, and milestones that mainstream trades often overlook.

What Radio Facts Is Today

Under Ross’s leadership, Radio Facts has chronicled the evolution from terrestrial?only radio into satellite, streaming, AI?driven tools, and on?demand audio, while keeping the spotlight on the people, catalogues, and communities that made the industry what it is. The platform is also home to special coverage around key cultural and business moments such as Black Music Month, ownership and catalog control, AI’s impact on creators, and the changing economics of media and music publishing.

The Radio Facts Contributors

Although Radio Facts is founded and published by Kevin Ross, it is powered by a small, dedicated group of contributors who bring additional depth, voice, and perspective to the brand. Together, they help Radio Facts cover the industry from multiple angles—creative, business, technological, and cultural.

Radio Facts’ contributor family includes:

  • Industry writers and editors – Programmers, executives, journalists, and creatives who contribute reporting, commentary, and historical pieces on radio, records, music publishing, Black music culture, AI, and digital media.
  • Guest voices and columnists – Selected industry professionals and thought leaders who share their expertise on topics ranging from programming and promotion to entrepreneurship, technology, AI, and ownership.
  • This flexible contributor model allows Radio Facts to stay nimble and responsive, reflecting what is happening on the ground in real time while preserving a consistent editorial voice and vision.

    Legacy, Mission, and What’s Next

For nearly three decades, Kevin Ross and Radio Facts have worked to inform, connect, and celebrate the community that powers Black radio and Black music—from the air studio to the writers’ room, from the boardroom to the catalog sale. The goal has always been bigger than headlines: to preserve history, create accountability, spotlight unsung heroes, and give upcoming generations a clearer map of the industry they are entering.

As AI, data, and new technologies reshape how audio is created, programmed, discovered, and monetized, Radio Facts remains committed to being the Black industry authority: a space where programmers, artists, songwriters, publishers, executives, entrepreneurs, and fans can see themselves, learn from each other, and stay ahead of where audio is going next. Whether you are a veteran in the game or just getting started, RadioFacts.com exists to tell your story, reflect your reality, and help you move forward in an industry that is constantly rewriting its own rules.
