American Urban Radio Networks (AURN) will sponsor its eighth annual Urban Knight Awards at the RAB 2009 Radio Sales, Management and Leadership Conference, March 16th-18th at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida. The honors will be presented at the Urban Knight Awards reception on Monday, March 16, 2009 from 6 p.m.-7 p.m.
The Urban Knight Awards were initiated by American Urban Radio Networks in 2002 to honor the valiant efforts of those in Urban Radio sales who have carried the banner of improving marketing/sales to the Urban consumer marketplace.
“I could not think of two finer radio soldiers to go into the Urban Knights Hall of Fame,†said Jerry Lopes, AURN President of Program Operations and Affiliations. “Barry Mayo, currently President of the Radio Division at Radio-One, has done all one could do in radio and succeeded at every level. Hundley Batts, Co-Owner of WEUP AM & FM, along with his team, recently celebrated 50 years of dedicated service to the Huntsville, Alabama community.†Mayo and Batts head the 2009 Urban Knights honorees, which also include:
