American Idol Season 9: Top Contenders Collection

“American Idol” continues to rule as television’s ratings champion as the ninth season builds toward its thrilling conclusion. 19 Recordings/RCA Records spotlights this year’s fierce competition with American Idol: Season 9 available May 11 on CD, the new compilation includes performances by 10 of this season’s top contestants.

New judge Ellen DeGeneres and the talented Idol contenders exceeded already high expectations, delivering one of the competition’s best seasons. American Idol: Season 9 captures many of 2010’s signature performances, including Crystal Bowersox’s rocking rendition of Janis Joplin’s “Me and Bobby McGee,” teen heartthrob Aaron Kelly’s soaring cover of Aerosmith’s classic “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” and Siobhan Magnus’s electric version of The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black.” Taking pages from the legendary Lennon/McCartney songbook, Casey James delivered a stunning performance of “Jealous Guy,” while 17-year old Katie Stevens provided one of the season’s brightest moments with the fan favorite “Let It Be.”

Among the collection’s others highlights are Lee Dewyze’s take on “Treat Her Like A Lady,” and a trio of acoustic performances ““ Michael Lynch singing India Arie’s “Ready For Love,” Andrew Garcia’s soulful performance of Chris Brown’s “Forever” and Tim Urban’s performance of The Rolling Stone classic “Under My Thumb” ““ plus Didi Benami singing The Stones’ “Play with Fire.”
