blondie_final-mark_weiss-bigtopSmithsonian Channel is sponsoring Blondie’s South By Southwest (SXSW) live performance from Yahoo’s Brazos Hall on March 13th to support the upcoming world premiere of BLONDIE’S NEW YORK, a one-hour documentary that explores the rise of the legendary band.

Smithsonian Channel Presents Blondie Powered By Yahoo, a rare live performance by the iconic band, will be available to fans across the country via a LIVE stream on Smithsonianchannel.com and on Yahoo Screen and on mobile via the Yahoo Screen app on Thursday, March 13 beginning at approximately 11:45pm CST.

Blondie got their start in New York City in the 1970s, and their influence on music, fashion, and art has never waned. Today they are still rocking, 40 years after their inception, and will release a double-disc album package later this Spring in celebration of their momentous 40th Anniversary Year.

The real story behind their breakout success in 1978 is looked at in BLONDIE’S NEW YORK, narrated by Kim Cattrall, the definitive account of the making of Blondie’s Parallel Lines, premiering on Smithsonian Channel Friday, March 21 at 10 PM ET/PT.
