Recently, Escambia County Police arrested four individuals after 23 animals were removed from a hoarder home in Escambia County, Florida.

On February 7, Patrick McCann (53), Steffanie McCann (52), Jennifer McKee (28), and Matthew McKee (36) were arrested and charged with child neglect after officials found two children and 23 animals living at the residence.

After receiving several complaints about a foul odor emanating from the house, officers arrived at the home in Escambia County to assist Escambia County Animal Welfare with removing animals from the property due to the home’s “unsuitable conditions.”

Upon arrival, police discovered the home filled with garbage, feces, and urine.

In a joint effort, Escambia County Animal Welfare and the Escambia County Sherriff’s office removed 11 dogs, a McCaw, a pig, a lizard, and nine cats from the feces-covered home.

According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, many of the animals living in unsanitary conditions suffered from health issues.

The animals were taken to a local shelter where they have been evaluated and cared for by animal welfare professionals.

While removing the animals, officers noted two children living in the home.

At the time of the incident, one child was allegedly sitting in a room surrounded by feces and urine while the other child was running barefoot throughout the home, according to reports.

The Florida Department of Children and Families investigators arrived and stated that the children would not be allowed to stay home until the home was clean.

The four individuals arrested on child neglect charges on February 14 were released from jail after making a $2,500 bond.
