In a press release on Friday, District Attorney Pamela Price announced the charges against Perales, aged 50, who has been employed in the Alameda County Probation Department since 2001. Perales is being accused of engaging in oral copulation with a minor under the age of 16. The alleged contact occurred from August 2004 to August 2005, when the minor was in custody at the Alameda Juvenile Justice Center and under Perales’ supervision and care.
Due to her role as an employee working with children in the criminal justice system, Perales is considered to be in a position of trust, as stated by the DA’s Office. In addition to the charge of oral copulation, she also faces allegations of willfully and unlawfully performing a lewd and lascivious act on the same child when they were 15.
If convicted, Perales could potentially receive a sentence of up to three years and eight months in prison. Furthermore, she would be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of her life.
