WARNING: Shocking video footage shows a teenage girl sucker-punched during a youth basketball game

Last Sunday, a 14-year-old teenage girl was caught on camera violently sucker-punching another girl during a basketball game in Garden Grove, California.

Video shows that the incident occurred during a girl’s youth basketball game involving teams, SoCal Blaze and Dream Academy.

The incident sparked when a player on Dream Academy was bumped by a player on the SoCal Blaze following a three-point shot attempt.

After the shot, both girls momentarily fell down to the ground before bouncing back up and beginning to follow the play towards the opposite side of the court.

Though, what happened next was completely and utterly shocking to onlookers.

As play resumed, a voice from the crowd was heard shouting, “You better hit her for it,” and in a matter of seconds, the Dream Academy player surged forward and punched the other girl, instantly knocking her back down to the floor.

Immediately following the brutal attack, referees blew their whistles and the game was brought to a stop. Upon witnessing the attack, the coach of the SoCal Blaze immediately called off the game and the 14-year-old Dream Academy player was removed from the gym.

In an interview with NBC 4, Alice Ham, the mother of the attacked girl, disclosed that her daughter now suffers from a concussion, causing her to miss several days of school following the vicious ambush.

Alice claims the incident was incited by the Dream Academy player’s mother and has now filed a police complaint against the 14-year-old, telling ABC-7, “I want the daughter and the mom held accountable.”

Attorney Brett Greenfield, who is representing the 14-year-old who threw the punch, recently released a statement to ABC-7.

“My client and her family are deeply and sincerely remorseful. This is an unfortunate incident involving a very hard-working and promising student-athlete. We must keep some perspective and keep in mind that this is a young minor who has made a mistake.”

Garden Grove Police Department is currently further investigating the incident.
