Woman Slaps Spirit Airlines Employee, Employee Attacks Her Back (video)

Spirit is an airline well-known and documented for having many customer complaints and problems, yet it’s also one of the most popular airlines for travelers who want to save money. That combination is not a good one regarding high-stress levels for employees constantly berated by angry travelers.

This woman was plain wrong. Once you put your hands on someone, what do you expect them to do? A Spirit Airlines employee tried to remain calm while a woman yelled and screamed at him and repeatedly pushed him and called him homophobic slurs and other names. A man came up to stand between them when she reached around and slapped the employee.

Perhaps she thought that because he was at work, he would not respond. The employee broke away from the man, grabbed her by her feet, and she faced-planted into the floor. Another man came to her defense after the fact, but what was her defense?

The employee while confrontational did not touch the man who was pressed up against him and also confrontational.

The employee has been suspended, and the airline has posted this response…

“We are aware of this altercation. Our vendor at DFW has suspended the agent. Spirit Airlines does not tolerate violence of any kind, and we are working with local law enforcement to investigate this matter.”

There is a good chance that the woman will be charged with assault since she repeatedly assaulted the employee. Most people in the tweet and responses agree that she was at fault.

She was out of line, responding to his aggression the way she did.
But instead of de-escalating the situation, he was WAY out of line and triggered her in his initial aggressive approach to her, getting in her face and telling her not to touch him as he was up against her pushing his chest against her. Then he was WAY out of control after the slap. See how he was physically agitated and challenging people who were trying to calm him down? He’s got a serious anger problem. That’s exactly NOT how to handle the public.

I’m female. If I ever slapped/hit anyone, I would fully expect to be hit/slapped/punched, etc. in return. I grew up with an older brother. There were no “you can’t hit her back because she’s a girl”, growing up. FAFO

Once you slap someone they have the right to defend themselves AND to detain you for arrest. Assault, most particularly a sucker punch causes the flow of adrenalin to take off. Once a human is attacked their response can end up being very violent, and the law recognizes that. Street fights are not governed by “rules”, the Marquis De Queensbury does not apply. Spirit has the responsibility to provide unconditional support to an employee who is assaulted. And she gets a trip to jail to be charged with assault.

I totally understand about readting, been there, done that. You gotta be strong an not react that way, that’s for both of them. There has to be an enormous amount of peace within all of us, especially now more than ever. This society shames, constantly. Don’t allow it to escalate!
