Salem Communications to Acquire WWRC-AM in Washington, D.C.

Salem Communications Corporation a leading U.S. radio broadcaster, Internet content provider, magazine and book publisher targeting audiences interested in Christian and family-themed content and conservative values, today announced that it will acquire WWRC 1260 AM in Washington, D.C. Additionally, Salem will begin operating the station under a local marketing agreement on May 15, 2010. WWRC-AM will be programmed in Salem’s News Talk format and features nationally known talk shows combined with live and local news, weather and traffic.

David Santrella, Division President, Radio, commented, “There is no better place to have a platform for our brand of talk radio than in our nation’s capital and this acquisition provides us with just such an opportunity.”

Salem Communications Corporation is the largest commercial U.S. radio broadcasting company that provides programming targeted at audiences interested in Christian and family-themed radio content, as measured by the number of stations and audience coverage. Upon completion of all announced transactions, the company will own a national portfolio of 95 radio stations in 37 markets, including 58 stations in 22 of the top 25 markets. We also program the Family Talk (TM) Christian-themed talk format on XM Radio, channel 170.
