BMI Responds to ARN about Story Posted Yesterday

I was contacted almost immediately after the post went up about Catherine Brewton allegedly paying rapper Drake $100,000 to appear in Atlanta.

Here is the respose…

The points brought up in this post/story are inaccurate and I ask that you take them down. BMI is not a promoter nor acts as one in regards to fees; we present over 200 showcases each year, of which this was one of them, and we do not pay our performers a fee.

As a journalist we ask that you respect and report on the facts, not gossip. The facts are, we presented our 13th Annual Urban Unsigned Showcase in Atlanta on Tuesday night, of which Nicoya won the showcase competition, and Drake and Travis Porter were our featured headline performers. We are proud to be an active member of the Atlanta music community, and appreciate their long-time support of BMI events such as this one. If you have any questions/concerns please contact me…
