Come Together This Holiday Season to
Give Families in Need a Dignified Dining Experience
November 21, 2013 (New York, NY) – HOT 97 WQHT FM, the #1 station for hip hop and R&B in the New York tri-state area, is always committed to giving back. Alex Cameron, HOT 97 GM, says, “This holiday season the entire Emmis NY staff will volunteer a day of service on Thursday, December 12, 2013 to provide those less fortunate in our communities a truly special and memorable Holiday feast with a first class experience that not only feeds and entertains people but that does so in a respectful and dignified way with the hope of Lifting Up Others with nourishment for both bodies and souls. It is our distinct pleasure and privilege to serve and make a difference together”. HOT 97’s hip hop Has Heart Foundation and Incite (Emmis’ cause marketing division) will host “Lift ‘Em Up”, a celebration focused on lifting up New Yorkers that face challenging circumstances. The festivities will include gourmet food provided by celebrity chefs including Chef Pecko, of the Four Seasons Restaurant, Chef Jesse, who has catered for the likes of Jim Jones, Tyler Perry, and Michelle Williams, and HOT 97’s own DJ Camilo, who’s restaurant Blend will be providing one of their signature menu items. Also scheduled is a performance from Singer/Songwriter Sebastian Mikael,whose recent song, “Last Night” featuring Wale, is quickly climbing the R&B charts. Sebastian was recently performed in front of a sold out crowd at HOT 97’s Who’s Next Live, and is set to release his full-length debut album in February 2014.

Donyshia Benjamin, HOT 97 Marketing Director explains, “We are excited to serve the community by working with local council members Leroy Comrie, Donovan Richards, and Ruben Wills, as well as Fidelis Care Health Insurance, P.S. 195 Rosedale, P.S. 276 Louis Marshall School, P.S. 45 Clarence Witherspoon School, and the St. Albans School, P.S. 36, all coming together to invite special families to share in a night to remember!” Participants will have the chance to dine on chicken-apple sausage and jerk flatiron steak courtesy of Chef Pecko, honey, pineapple and brown sugar glazed spiral ham courtesy of Chef Jesse, delectable holiday dishes from Two Fish Five Loaves, tasty wings from Cake & Wings, and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages fromCaribbean Aqua. Additionally, attendees will receive food baskets to bring home to guarantee warm meals to indulge in for the upcoming holidays. The food baskets will include items from the dishes donated from all our chefs, as well as from recipes contributed by Chef Michael Symon, ofABC’s “The Chew” and Bravo TV’s Chef Roble. The Hip Hop Has Heart Foundation has committed itself to being responsive to the needs and concerns of the community since its inception in 1994. Joining the cause is Incite, which focuses on the business of using Marketing for Good. Incite uses entertainment to connect brands with causes and build meaningful relationships with consumers. Using local media and grassroots engagement, Incite moves people to take positive action, creating impact for brands and communities. Through this “Lift ‘Em Up” celebration, we hope to bring many deserving families some holiday cheer!
