The charges were announced during a press conference on Thursday morning at police headquarters.

Incident Details

The incident occurred around 1:25 AM on Tuesday morning. Deputy Wardlaw and a friend stopped at a gas station in the 500 block of East 67th Street in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood. Thompson attempted to rob Wardlaw with two guns and fired at least 69 rounds. Deputy Wardlaw returned fire from his vehicle, striking Thompson in the leg.
