Universal Music Publishing Group Signs Global Publishing Deal With INXS
Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) has signed a global publishing agreement with INXS members Andrew Farriss (keyboards and guitar), Jon Farriss (drums), Kirk Pengilly (guitar, saxophone), Tim Farriss (guitar) and Garry Gary Beers (bass) for the core INXS catalog of music, as announced today by Zach Horowitz, Chairman and CEO, Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG). EDM Publishing Deal Reached
The young label dGenerate Records has secured the rights to an extensive catalog of electronic dance music in a deal signed with Amsterdam-based Dstorted Media, a collective of European EDM artists, dGenerate Records announced today.Under terms of the agreement, dGenerate will administer all of Dstorted Media's catalog, which includes music from multiple artists around the world. Kraft will serve artists throughout the label's roster in identifying, developing and executing soundtrack opportunities across film, TV, video games and the internet. Prominent Los Angeles entertainment attorney Tre Lovell from The Lovell Firm is currently representing noted songwriter Kent Harris in his lawsuit against music publishing giant Warner/Chappell Music, Inc., over the song "Cops and Robbers," a classic performed by such acts as Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, George Thorogood, The Rolling Stones, Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders. The suit alleges fraud, deceit, breach of fiduciary duty and other claims of mismanagement. "We are excited to represent Mr. Harris in this matter and protect those aspects of his career that have made him such a noted and distinguished songwriter," Tre Lovell said.Harris comes from a strong background in entertainment. From his early years performing in his band Boogaloo and His Gallant Crew, to his many songs recorded on such labels as Capitol, RCA, Atlantic and Columbia, he has been prominent in the music business.
