Brian McGhee’s move to Jacksonville is the kind of executive shift that matters to publishers, songwriters, and rights holders because radio leadership shapes how local brands, audiences, and advertisers are managed at the market level. Cox Media Group has named McGhee Vice President and Market Manager for CMG Jacksonville Radio, replacing Jimmy Farrell.
McGhee brings sales and market leadership experience
McGhee most recently served as Director of Sales for Urban One in Washington, DC, where he oversaw revenue for five stations. His previous roles include Market President for Townsquare Media in Rockford and General Sales Manager positions with iHeartMedia in Chicago and St. Louis.
CMG says he fits its local media approach
CMG Radio President Rob Babin said McGhee is a “strong, people-centered leader” with “sales expertise, operational discipline, and market vision.” Babin also said McGhee knows how to build high-performing teams, develop client relationships, and create momentum, while leading with authenticity, accountability, and an understanding of what local media can mean to audiences, advertisers, and communities.
McGhee said CMG has an “outstanding reputation” for strong local brands, talented people, and meaningful service to audiences and advertisers. He said he is excited to build on that foundation, work alongside the team, and help drive continued growth in Jacksonville.
What to watch next in Jacksonville
The key development now is how McGhee applies his sales and market management background to CMG Jacksonville Radio after succeeding Farrell. His next steps will center on building on CMG’s existing local brands and supporting growth in the Jacksonville market.
