Altercation at Charter School Injures Two Teens

An altercation at a charter school in Washington D.C. has left two students with gunshot wounds and another in custody. The teens were shot near a public charter school, authorities said. Police have taken the 15-year-old shooter into custody.

Around 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31. Gunfire erupted in the 4500 block of Lee Street near the intersection of 45th Street, according to the DC Police Department. To ensure the safety of everyone, The IDEA Public Charter School placed the school on lockdown as a precaution.

The victims were rushed to the hospital, where they were being treated for injuries and are expected to survive the assault.

One of the students came to school without a proper uniform and left when asked to wear the appropriate attire. A little while later, after refusing to get checked by a security officer, two other students also walked out of the building.

Allegedly that three teens engaged in an altercation resulting in the shooting.
