Young Man who Rode Bike Six Miles to College has Good Ending After Funds Frozen

The 19-year-old college student, Freddy Kennedie Barley, who made national headlines for riding his bike six miles to college to register and who was living in a tent on campus got donations of over $184,000 in a go fund me campaign set up by a woman named Casey Blaney who urged everyone to help.

Perhaps Blaney did not anticipate that kind of response after she initiated the Go Fund Me account and she wanted him to use her attorney for disbursement but Barley didn’t want to use her attorney for whatever reason so she contacted Go Fund Me to freeze the account so that Barley could not get his money and they, in turn, investigated his story to determine if he would get the money or if it would be given back to contributors. Her intentions were good from an outside perspective as she was concerned about Barley getting that amount of money coming from his circumstances. While people may be pissed at her about that, she was right as would be the case with ANY teen of ANY race in this situation. Once the money is in their hands thousands of people will be coming out of the woodwork for a piece of it. She wanted him to set up the money to pay for college and for a trust. That’s what has happened. and Barley took to Facebook to express his thanks to supporters.

Blaney, it appears, wanted him to set up the money to pay for college and for a trust. That’s exactly what has happened. Barley got to keep his attorney who has made an agreement with Blaney’s attorney and the money will be released and disbursed to support his education and needs while in college. Barley took to Facebook to express his thanks to supporters.

“So I have some great news for everyone that has been following the story. My attorney Christopher Chapman has got in contact with Wright gammon , Mrs. Blaney’s attorney, and has come to terms so both parties are happy. I will be allowed to put it into a trust that covers both living expenses and my tuition. Mrs. Blaney would like to turn over everything to her lawyer, and does not want anything to do with the trust account any longer. Together , my attorney and her attorney are working cooperatively to ensure that all assets donated go strictly to me and in a trust that I agree with. Thank you, everyone,  for your prayers and standing behind me through everything. God makes a way.”
