Man Sets Woman on Fire After Dousing Her With Alcohol

A Toledo, OH man faced three felony charges on Wednesday after allegedly dousing a woman with rubbing alcohol, setting her on fire, and abandoning her at an emergency room. The incident was reported to the Toledo police when a severely injured 33-year-old woman arrived at a hospital at around noon. Investigations revealed that David Thomas, aged 30, had driven her to the emergency room but left before police arrived.

However, Thomas returned to the hospital later, leading to his detainment for further questioning and subsequent arrest based on statements from the woman and hospital staff. The charges pressed against Thomas include aggravated arson, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence, all of which are felonies. Court records indicate that the woman sustained significant physical harm to her torso and arms, requiring hospital admission for treatment. Thomas and the victim were residents of the same address. The incident remains under investigation.

Thomas was assigned a bond of $300,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on May 25. According to court records, Thomas has a history of multiple charges, including assault in 2021 and domestic violence against his pregnant girlfriend in 2013.
