Atlanta Radio Host Jade Novahs PETA Ad Promotes Veganism

width=She started as an R&B songwriter, went viral with her covers of hit songs, dropped her own album, and is about to launch her “Cosmic Love” tour in New York on Friday—and now, Jade Novah is teaming up with PETA for a new pro-vegan campaign that proclaims, “Live in Color—Go Vegan for Life.”

“I am super-vegan, y’all,” Novah says in an accompanying video spot, which shows her enjoying vegan snacks such as Fishless Filet tacos and Crabless Cakes. “Fish are friends, not food,” she says. “All these things taste so good, and it’s just so unnecessary to put … animal product in it.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—notes that in today’s meat and dairy industries, cows are forcibly separated from their beloved calves, chickens’ throats are cut while they’re still conscious, piglets are castrated without painkillers, and fish are cut open while they’re still alive. “I think getting the information, watching the documentaries, really understanding the whole propaganda behind the meat industry and the animal industry in general—there’s so much corruption in it … gives you this mental clarity,” says Novah.

She also shares some of the benefits of going vegan: “My husband, he actually lost 75 pounds,” she says. “We both actually lost a lot and have maintained our goal weight since being vegan.”

Novah is part of a growing list of musicians and other celebrities—including Jermaine DupriKat GrahamRZAMasta Killa, Paul McCartneyEveKesha, and P!nk—who’ve teamed up with PETA to promote kindness to animals.

PETA offers a free vegan starter kit (available here) full of recipes, tips, and more. For more information, please visit PETA.org.
