Suspect Arrested After Tossing Gun Used in Killing

A suspect is in custody after allegedly tossing a gun used in a killing atop a news station roof. On Sunday evening, the weapon believed to be used in a downtown Minneapolis high-rise apartment murder was left on the rooftop of the building next door.

Around 7:45 p.m., police were called to investigate a report of a shooting inside an apartment building at 10th Street South and Marquette Avenue. Police found a man with a life-threatening wound inside the apartment. He later died after being rushed to the hospital.

Gunshots inside the apartment were heard, and witnesses said they saw someone throw a gun off a balcony and onto the roof of WCCO, the television station located next door. The weapon was found after police searched the roof.

Cops say they have a suspect in custody connected to the slaying. As the investigation continues, police are focused on determining how the two men knew each other. The shooting marks the 56th homicide this year for the city.
