A Michigan familywelcomed the first daughter born in the family since 1885.

After four generations and 130 years of only producing male children, little Audrey Clark was born on St. Patrick’s Day to Andrew and Carolyn Clark, making her the first girl born to the Clark family since the late 1800s.

“I have two older brothers and they both have boys. My dad had three boys and his dad had three boys, and my great-great-grandfather had two boys, and then my great-great-great grandfather had five children, and the last one that was born in 1885 was a girl,” said Andrew.

The Clark family of West Michigan did not think they would break the streak, especially since their firstborn was a boy.

“We just assumed we’re going to have another boy because history showed itself with Cameron,” Carolyn Clark told reporters.

According to Carolyn, the couple was shocked at their gender reveal party to find out they were expecting a girl. Their cousin baked rainbow cookies with pink frosting in the middle, revealing the sex of the baby.

“We were just all kind of shocked that it was actually pink on the inside. It was a very pleasant surprise, but we were all just shocked and in disbelief,” Carolyn explained.

“Our parents have just been spoiling her before she was even here, buying all the bows and tutus and outfits. She’s got enough clothes that she doesn’t have to wear the same outfit twice.”

According to the family, big brother Cameron is smitten with his baby sister and is already determined to keep her safe from bad guys. “Yeah, I’ll punch those guys away,” the 4-year-old said.

“I just thought history was going to continue and be a litter of boys, but we are blessed and we’re happy,” added Andrew.

“Our little rainbow baby born on a special rainbow day.”
