Woman Tortured and Stuffed in Tote Bag Is Recovering Well

A recent update reveals that the woman who was discovered by Cleveland Police inside a sealed plastic container is now out of a coma and fighting for her life. Although her family members have expressed that she will require assistance, they emphasize her resilience, stating that she said, “He didn’t win, I’m still alive.”

The incident unfolded on May 2 when Cleveland Police responded to a report of a possible violent assault in the city’s West Boulevard neighborhood. They discovered a 60-year-old woman, who remains unidentified, stuffed and folded into a small black tote.

The victim had also endured stab wounds and beatings, resulting in life-threatening injuries. She was promptly transported to MetroHealth Medical Center for urgent medical care. The suspect, Dalontay Edmond-Geiger Sr., was apprehended at the scene and has been charged with various felonies, including attempted murder.

During his arraignment hearing, Edmond-Geiger Sr. pleaded not guilty and displayed contempt towards the presiding judge by gesturing with his middle finger after she increased his bond. According to a relative of the victim, she had been in a coma and suffered from a broken back and spine, leaving her paralyzed. The police report indicates that officers were initially alerted to the crime scene at a residence on W. 97th Street around 3:30 p.m. on May 2.

Edmond-Geiger Sr. permitted officers to search the basement after causing a 30-minute delay. Subsequently, police returned to the residence after midnight on May 3, at which point Edmond-Geiger Sr. purportedly confessed that there was an individual on the porch and concealed inside the tote. The court has ordered that Edmond-Geiger Sr. be held on a $750,000 bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled for May 30 in Cleveland Municipal Court. Source
