U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Honors MLK Jr.

Just as many across the United States and the world honor Dr. King today,  The U.S. Commission on civil rights joins the nation in celebrating Dr.

King’s legacy and his many contributions to civil rights. Between 1957 and 1968, Dr. King journeyed over six million miles and spoke over twenty-five hundred times for the advancement of civil rights.

Dr. King captured the attention of the world through his actions and inspired a nation to dream, by sharing his speech found at https://www.archives.gov/press/exhibits/dream-speech.pdf.”As we observe Martin Luther King Day, let us recognize that what he struggled for during his lifetime, we struggle for today. Therefore, let us renew our efforts to protect the rights won for us by Dr.

King.” – Chairman Castro. The U.S. Commission on civil rights is an independent, bipartisan agency charged with advising the President and Congress on civil rights matters and issuing a federal civil rights enforcement report.
