(AUSTIN, Texas) 10.24.2016 – Huston-Tillotson University is pleased to announce that Kiara Johnson has been selected by the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities as a member of the 2016 HBCU All-Stars. A Houston, Texas, resident, Ms. Johnson is one of 73 students from across 63 HBCUs named as the 2016 HBCU All-Stars to attend the National HBCU Week Conference, which began in Washington, D.C.,  this past Sunday, Oct. 23.

Over the next year, Ms.

Johnson and the other 72 HBCU All-Stars will serve as ambassadors by providing outreach opportunities and communicating with other students about the value of both education and the Initiative as a networking source. According to the original press release, the All-Stars were selected from over 300 students from 24 states, the District of Columbia, Ghana, Nigeria, and the Virgin Islands. They will work together and as a group and network with one another to achieve their goals.
