On Wednesday, September 24th, BMI gathered in Nashville to honor Zach Top, the six-time CMA nominee, for his first-ever No. 1 hit I Never Lie. The song, which has been certified double platinum, was written by Top, Carson Chamberlain (BMI/Producer), and Tim Nichols (BMI). It’s currently up for “Single of the Year” and “Song of the Year” at the 2025 CMA Music Awards. The celebration took place at BMI’s Nashville office, where Top took a moment to express his gratitude to the industry for supporting his traditional storytelling.

He also gave a heartfelt thanks to his co-writers, Carson Chamberlain and Tim Nichols, for their early backing in his career. To commemorate the success, the songwriters were each gifted a custom Taylor 210e DLX guitar by BMI. The evening took a surprise turn when BMIs Mitch Ballard presented Zach Top with an early birthday cake to mark the occasion.

The country star, whose debut album Cold Beer & Country Music is the source of the hit song, is set to hit the road for his fall tour starting tomorrow, September 26th.
