Biden Addresses National Association of Black Journalists

Vice President Joe Biden will address members of the National Association of Black Journalists, (NABJ) at the 37th Annual NABJ Convention & Career Fair next week in New Orleans, La.With more than 2,500 journalists and media professionals expected to attend, the NABJ convention is the largest annual gathering of journalists of color in the nation. The Vice President will address NABJ Convention attendees on Wednesday, June 20, the first day of the five-day gathering.Other Washington newsmakers who have addressed the NABJ Convention in recent years include Barack Obama, then a U.S. Senator; President George W.

Bush; President Bill Clinton; then-Sen. Hillary Clinton; Sen. John Kerry; Secretary of State Colin Powell; and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.The NABJ convention this year will emphasize changes in the media industry and how journalists can best position themselves in the digital age and beyond.

The theme is #NABJ12: New Platforms. New Directions. New Orleans.” The gathering will feature major plenary discussions on the 2012 presidential election, the Supreme Court challenge to the federal health care law, the case of slain teenager Trayvon Martin, as well as workshops and professional development sessions.For additional information about the 37th NABJ Convention & Career Fair and for the full schedule visit, www.nabj.org.
