Overdose Cited in Detroit Stepbrother Death

An overdose was blamed as the cause of death after a Detroit man allegedly killed his stepbrother. A judge said during the suspect’s arraignment, Christopher Charles Johnson Jr., 32 told his mother the victim died of an overdose.

During an argument in the 11700 block of Sussex in Detroit early Thursday, Johnson is accused of shooting his 22-year-old stepbrother.

Johnson is charged with second-degree murder, discharging a weapon in or at a building causing death, possession of a firearm by a felon, and felony firearms.

The judge called the crime “very concerning,” in court on Monday, saying Johnson tried to cover up the shooting before he was caught.

Johnson was refused bail.
