Mister Cee Exits Hot 97 Segues to New Outlet

Music-Mister Cee

In a very interesting move, legendary mix Radio DJ Mister Cee has left his longtime position at Hot 97 and moved to Radio 103.9 a fairly new Cumulus UAC format with a very limited signal that entered the market this past July. The Radio Station is trying to find its place in the top market and last week scored a 0.2 share 25-54 overall and the Tom Joyner Morning Show (TJMS) is a 0.1. Cumulus had to pay a pretty penny to get Mister Cee from market staple Hot 97 and it’s unclear what the Radio Station ‘s future plans are. To remain the same because of contractual obligations to Tom and D.L. Hughley or to go Classic Hip Hop or another format.

“I AM EXCITED, HUMBLED, & BLESSED TO BE BACK ON THE RADIO WITH THE NEW RADIO 103.9 IN NEW YORK. TO BE A PART OF A NEW GROWING STATION GIVES ME A FRESH START IN MY RADIO CAREER. SPECIAL THANKS TO KEN JOHNSON & RAPHAEL GEORGE FOR GIVING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY. ALSO A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ANDREW VERAS AKA DOMINICAN DREW FOR PUSHING FOR ME TO BE A PART OF THE RADIO 103.9 FAMILY, I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET IT.”

During a conversation with a programmer over the weekend about the situation he is convinced the Radio Station will fail. I’m not so sure it can’t make a mark depending on the programming. Time will tell.
