Driver and Passenger Killed in Head-On Crash with Truck

A driver and passenger were killed after they crashed head-first into an 18-wheeler while driving on the wrong side of the highway, according to San Antonio police. The crash happened on Highway 90 westbound early Friday morning around 3 a.m. on Highway 90 near Cupples Road, on the city’s West Side.

Police are unsure why the white four-door sedan was traveling eastbound in the highway’s westbound lanes when it collided with the semi-truck. Police said the passenger and driver were declared dead at the scene.

As the emergency crews clean up the area, Highway 90 westbound remains closed. The SAPD urges travelers to find an alternative route and avoid the area.

Injuries to the driver of the big rig remain unclear. Pending notification of kin, the victim’s names have not been released.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS were all on the scene.
