David Bailin Takes Over Sbs’s New York Radio Operations

Spanish Broadcasting System has promoted David Bailin to General Manager of its New York market operations, a move that puts a key radio cluster in new hands at a moment when every sales decision, audience push, and local strategy can ripple across the broader music business. For publishers, songwriters, and rights holders watching New York radio, the leadership change matters because the company’s stations remain a major platform for music and advertising in one of the most important markets in the country.

Bailin moves up from sales into the top New York post

Bailin had been serving as National Sales Manager for SBS before the promotion. The company said he previously worked at Entravision Communications, Sun Broadcast Group, and Westwood One.

He replaces Maire Mason, who held the New York GM role from 2018 until earlier this year.

The New York cluster includes two major stations

SBS’s New York market operations include Mega 97.9 (WSKQ) and Amor 93.1 (WPAT). The company also operates 14 additional radio stations across Florida, California, Illinois, and Puerto Rico, and runs AIRE Radio Networks.

SBS COO and General Counsel Richard Lara said Bailin “has been an invaluable member of the SBS family” and praised his “exceptional leadership and dedication” as well as his understanding of the New York market and ability to build strong teams.

Bailin said he is “honored and excited” to take on the role and said SBS has “an incredible legacy in the New York market.” He added that he looks forward to working with the company’s team to continue delivering “outstanding content and value” to audiences, advertisers, and community partners.

What to watch next: Bailin’s first test will be how he guides SBS’s New York operations at Mega 97.9 and Amor 93.1 while stepping into a role that had been held by Mason for several years.
