48 Hours Crime Time Double Feature Revisits Unsolved Murders

9:00 PM, ET/PT – In May 2008, Kay Wenal, a well-liked former model, was found brutally murdered inside the Gwinnett County, Ga., home shared with her husband, a real estate developer and millionaire. It’s a case that has perplexed local police and private investigators.

Erin Moriarty and 48 HOURS take viewers deep inside the hard-to-close murder case in an encore of 48 HOURS: “Solve This Case: Who Killed Kay Wenal?” to be broadcast Saturday, July 27 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+.

10:00 PM, ET/PT – Years before South Carolina legal scion Alex Murdaugh was convicted for the murders of his wife and son, there was another mystery in Murdaugh country – the death of Stephen Smith, a 19-year-old gay man. After his body was found on a country road on July 8, 2015, the medical examiner ruled it a hit-and-run.

For years, Stephen’s mother, Sandy Smith, wanted a second opinion. 48 HOURS reports on a new investigation into the case in an encore of 48 HOURS: “Stephen Smith – A Death in Murdaugh Country,” to be broadcast Saturday, Jul. 27 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+.
