Cedrick ‘Swab’ Cotton of 90s Group Ideal Stabbed to Death in Houston

    Cedrick “Swab” Cotton, a former member of 90s R&B group Ideal, was stabbed to death in broad daylight Tuesday (February 9) at a Food Mart in Southwest . He was 46.

    Cotton’s mother, Delores Floyd, said her son was a frequent customer at the Fondren Food Mart. She explained to Houston’s ABC13: “He’d ride his little bike, go there, get a quick cigarette. The next thing know, I get this call and I heard people … ‘He comes here every day. He doesn’t bother anybody. He’s a good .”

    After word of the stabbing spread, crowds of people flocked to Fondren Food Mart to see if they knew the . Cotton’s uncle, William King, was among them.

    “I saw him just lying there. I couldn’t do nothing but just cry last night,” King told ABC13.

    As investigators try to piece together what happened, Floyd is pleading for the suspect to surrender.

    “Whoever did this, turn yourself in. You know, it’s time out for this foolishness. Killing people is not the right thing to do,” said.

    Cotton played at Houston’s Lamar before moving to California and launching “Ideal” in 1999 alongside his brother, Maverick “Mav” Cotton, their cousin Wayne “PZ” Perry, and high school friend Jay “J-Dante” Green. The quartet is best known for their singles “Creep Inn,” “Get Gone” and “Whatever.”

    “They were on “ Train,” “Donnie and Marie ,” “The Parkers,” Floyd said.
