Industry Passings

Radio Facts is sorry to report that 80s singer Joyce Sims has died. Sims was from Rochester, NY, signed in the mid-80s to the now-defunct Sleeping Bag Records. She did frequent collaborations with Mantronix and had big hits with “(You Are My) All and All” and the infectious “Come Into My Life” (see video below).

No word on the cause of death. Sims was 63. Kurtis Mantronix wrote on Facebook today:

Tank - Black Music Month - Radio Facts

“Heartbreaking to hear that Joyce Sims has passed away.

Joyce had such a big beautiful personality & we made great hit records together. Joyce gave voice to a new strand of our identity and helped blaze a trail for a new generation. My sincerest sympathies and heart goes out to Joyce’s friends, family & band members.

Her kindness will be missed by many, and the anthems she gave to our nations will never be forgotten. Rest In Paradise Angel”
