Kentucky State University: Best Value Regional

Kentucky State University is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the best value among regional colleges in the South.

In the 2021 U.S. News & World Report rankings, Kentucky State University ranked as the number one best value schools among regional colleges in the South.

According to the methodology used by U.S. News and World Report for the category, factors included in determining the ranks were academic quality, percentage of full-time undergraduate students receiving need-based scholarships or grants, the average discount for full-time undergraduate students from the school’s total sticker price and percentage of those receiving need-based aid who don’t have to pay it back.

Kentucky State ranked seventh among the top public schools among regional colleges in the South.

This year, Kentucky State ranked as the 12th best institution in the best colleges for veterans among regional colleges in the South. Some of the criteria include certification for the GI Bill, participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program or is a public school, the institution must have, for the fourth consecutive year, enrolled a minimum of 20 full-time and part-time undergraduate veterans and undergraduate active service members in 2019-20.

Kentucky State was ranked 29th among Historically Black Colleges and Universities, up six spots from last year.

Kentucky State also ranked 36th in the best regional colleges in the South category.

Kentucky State ranked 53rd for top performers on social mobility among regional colleges in the South. The ranking is computed from the two ranking factors assessing graduation rates of Pell-awarded students.
