Roland Martin Tells Wendy Williams: Read a Book

Wendy Williams, Wendy Williams, Wendy Williams… Why did she feel the need to address the Jesse Williams speech on BET in the manner she did? By the way, that is a rhetorical question.

While addressing the petition that is currently circulating around the internet to get Jesse Williams fired from Grey’s Anatomy, Wendy explained that she saw both sides of the story. By the way, Shonda Rhimes has already came out via twitter and squashed the whole petition idea and said Jesse has nothing to worry about. Now back to the lecture at hand.

When saying she saw both sides of the story, Wendy said, “I must say to you, he was on BET. His speech was very poignant,” she said. “On the other hand, I would be really offended if there was a school that was known as a historically white college. We have historically Black colleges.

What if there was the National Organization for White People, only? There’s the NAACP.”
In her Wendy way she tried to laugh it off but her audience wasn’t really feeling the comment and it was shown by their dead silence but she didn’t stop there. Wendy went on to say, “National speeches like this will always rub people the wrong way just like white people will be offended because Spelman College is a historically Black college for women.

You might feel funny about that. I know I’d feel funny, like I just told you. If there was a white college or whatever.”
Well after many of her followers and others slammed her on the internet, Roland Martin didn’t pull any punches as he let Wendy have it with quite the educational rant.

Check out the clip but to sum it up he wants Wendy to “Read a Book!”
