Shirley ChisholmAs the nation prepares to observe Black History Month, the Postal Service is proud to announce that on Jan. 31 former Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm will become the 37th honoree in the Black Heritage stamp series. Chisholm was the first African American woman to serve in the U.S. Congress. In 1972, she ran for president, becoming the first African American to seek the nomination of a major political party. The stamp will be dedicated by the Deputy Postmaster General of the United States Postal Service, Ronald Stroman. Mr. Stroman is available for interviews about the new stamp Friday, Jan. 24, 7-8 a.m.; Tuesday, Jan. 28, 7-9 a.m. or 4-5 p.m. I would like to arrange an interview about the new stamp with Mr. Stroman.
