Jamen Capital launches $100M music financing platform

A new financing platform has emerged with the goal of becoming the largest global funder of independent music. Named Pipeline and backed by Matt Spetzler’s investment firm Jamen Capital, it has secured over $200 million in capital to assist independent music companies in unlocking the value of their intellectual property for growth and scaling.

Having developed for over a year, Pipeline aims to rectify the imbalance between independent music entities and major corporations. The platform is designed to help indie companies and creators avoid reliance on third-party acquisitions and unfavorable deal terms.

Spetzler, a prominent figure in music financing, is the Founding Partner of Jamen Capital and Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Pipeline. With over $5 billion in investments in the music/audio sector, he has served on the boards of notable companies such as Kobalt and Soundtrack. Before founding Jamen Capital, he played a pivotal role in the $750 million acquisition of Kobalt Music Group by Francisco Partners in 2022.

Pipeline has assembled a leadership team with extensive experience across music, investing, finance, and technology, having evaluated and managed over $8 billion in music intellectual property.

As alternative funding options for indie artists and labels grow, Pipeline joins other platforms like beatBread, which has invested over $100 million since 2020, and Duetti, which has expanded its operations with $200 million in new debt financing.

Spetzler emphasized that independent music companies possess valuable IP but often lack efficient means to access its value. Pipeline aims to provide accessible capital, IP analytics, and forecasting tools to empower indie businesses to compete effectively.

The platform promises quick decision-making and a streamlined underwriting process, focusing initially on labels and distributors, with plans to pilot with publishers and PROs soon. Spetzler reiterated their mission to become the largest funder of independent music globally, helping companies grow on their own terms.
