KVMA Magic 102.9 Program Director and On-Air Personality Nina Montgomery Honored for Her Contributions to Shreveport, LA’s African-American Community

CUMULUS MEDIA announces that Nina Montgomery, Program Director and On-Air Personality for Urban AC radio station KVMA Magic 102.9 in Shreveport, LA, was honored for her significant contributions to Shreveport’s African-American community on Saturday, February 8th at the Shreveport-Bossier-DeSoto African-American Scholarship Awards Banquet. The awards banquet was held at Morning Star Family Life Center in Shreveport, with all proceeds going toward scholarships for African-American students.

A staple in Shreveport radio for over twenty years, Montgomery was honored along with 11 other community members, including: Carolyn Henderson, the first African-American female assistant fire chief in Shreveport; Dr. David Williams II; and Dr. Marvin Rainey, both of whom were among the first African-American men to earn a doctorate from LSU-Shreveport. The honorees were recognized for making significant contributions to African-American history.

Aaron Criswell, Cumulus Shreveport Vice President / Market Manager, “Nina has been a spark of light for the African-American Community in Shreveport and Bossier City for many years. Nina has committed to spreading this light to the community and listeners of Urban AC powerhouse KVMA-FM, day in and day out.”

Jay Michaels, Operations Manager, Cumulus Shreveport, said: “In the year I’ve been in Shreveport, I’ve not only witnessed Nina’s extreme professionalism at work, but I’ve been able to witness her passion and dedication to this entire community. It’s obvious in everything she and I can’t think of a better person to be honored this year.”

Nina Montgomery said: “What an honor to be mentioned in the same breath as such area pioneers. Black History is being made everyday here in Northwest Louisiana and it has been my privilege to share in and give voice to so many community minded efforts and advocates. Two decades with Cumulus Shreveport have just flown by and I am dedicated to many more.”
