Apple has rolled out the initial beta of iOS 26.4 for developers, featuring a new artificial intelligence capability called ‘Playlist Playground’ within Apple Music. This innovative tool enables users to create customized playlists by simply entering text descriptions.
Accessible through the Apple Music app, the Playlist Playground option can be found by tapping the new playlist icon located in the upper-right corner of the ‘Library’ page. Users can input a text prompt, prompting Apple Music to generate a playlist tailored to their request. Additionally, the feature includes built-in ‘New Playlist Ideas’ prompts for enhanced user experience.
Once a playlist is generated, users have the flexibility to add it to their Apple Music library, as well as manually curate the tracklist by adding or removing songs and reordering them as desired. The feature allows for iterative refinement; users can continue to modify the playlist by providing further prompts without needing to restart the process.
For those who do not immediately see the new option following the iOS 26.4 update, it may be due to the ongoing download of the new Apple Intelligence models. Users can verify this status via the Settings app under the ‘Apple Intelligence & Siri’ menu. The iOS 26.4 beta is currently available to developer testers, with a public beta anticipated in the coming weeks.
