Jay Gilbert Exits Music Biz Weekly After 500 Episodes

Jay Gilbert has announced his departure as cohost of the Music Biz Weekly podcast following the milestone of 500 episodes. Mike Brandvold, who launched the podcast in 2011, will continue as the sole host. The show has been a significant platform for music industry insights, providing listeners with valuable tips and trends in music marketing.

Both Gilbert and Brandvold have extensive backgrounds in music marketing, and their collaboration has focused on educating DIY and developing artists about the music business. Gilbert has also recently finished his role on the Billboard Behind the Setlist podcast, which was affected by recent layoffs in the industry.

In addition to his departure from the podcast, Gilbert will be stepping back from his role at Label Logic, the company he co-founded. This transition will enable him to concentrate on his involvement with college-level music business programs, consulting opportunities, and his weekly newsletter and podcast, Your Morning Coffee.

Brandvold expressed his gratitude for Gilbert’s contributions and confirmed the podcast’s continuation, emphasizing that it will evolve while remaining a vital resource for music industry professionals. The 15th anniversary of Music Biz Weekly is set for 2026, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing journey.
