‘Songs for Selina,’ an independent drama exploring the themes of power, fame, and the realities of the music industry, is scheduled to debut in Philippine cinemas on March 18, 2026. The film features a soundtrack co-written and produced by prominent R&B artist Jay R, known as the King of R&B in the Philippines.
In addition to the soundtrack, the film boasts an original score composed by Emmy Award-winning Filipina composer Denise Santos. The release is facilitated by Jay R’s HomeWorkZ Entertainment and will be distributed by Black Cap Pictures.
‘Songs for Selina’ has already secured distribution deals with Amazon Prime US and Tubi for its North American release in 2025. The film features an all-Filipino cast, including Mica Javier and Rachel Coates, who portray Selina and Maya, childhood friends whose relationship is tested by the competitive nature of the music industry.
Alongside his role as a producer, Jay R’s involvement in the soundtrack is significant, with the music designed to complement the film’s narrative. The soundtrack includes both solo and duet performances by the lead actors, with Jay R emphasizing the natural connection between the songwriting process and his own career experiences.
The film also features a diverse cast, including Jay R, Rachel Alejandro, Audie Gemora, Nicole Laurel, Leanne Mamonong, and Gian Magdangal, highlighting the importance of independent storytelling in the entertainment landscape.
