fbi radio’s Dance Class is back, empowering the next generation of FLINTA DJs and transforming the Sydney dance scene.

fbi radio is thrilled to announce the return of its popular mentoring program, Dance Class, set to launch in 2026. This initiative is dedicated to women, non-binary, and trans individuals, aimed at building a vibrant future for dance music. With a focus on breaking down barriers in the electronic music industry, Dance Class pairs emerging DJs with experienced mentors who are distinguished figures in the Eora/Sydney music scene.

Selected participants will benefit from an immersive experience that encompasses various aspects of the dance music ecosystem. Over the course of the program, six trainees will learn the art of DJing on CDJs and vinyl, radio presenting, and managing club nights. They’ll also gain insights into the music business, event bookings, and what it takes to cultivate a sustainable career in the industry. Each trainee will be matched with an fbi radio mentor, getting hands-on experience and the opportunity to assist with radio shows behind the scenes.

Now in its fifth year, Dance Class has already made a significant impact, with notable alumni like Ebony Boadu, Lauren Hansom, Crescendoll, and AK Sports. These former participants have gone on to tour with artists they once admired, making their marks both locally and internationally while deeply engaging with Sydney’s dance music community.

This year’s lineup of mentors features a talented group of fbi radio presenters and alumni, including Andy Garvey, d-grade, Au4r33y, and Tangela, who bring invaluable real-world experience directly to the participants.

Applications for Dance Class are now open, inviting submissions from individuals who have a profound passion for dance musicwhether its hip hop, disco, techno, house, or beyond. No previous DJ experience is necessary; selection will prioritize enthusiasm, passion, and personal taste. Interested candidates should submit their applications before the deadline of 11:59 PM on Monday, February 2, using the application form provided.

fbi radio Dance Class is generously supported by Absolut and Create NSW, reinforcing its commitment to fostering talent in the music industry.
