Following recent Title IV approval from the Department of Education (DOE), eligible students at Tribeca Flashpoint Academy may now take advantage of federal financial aid to finance their education.Under Title IV, Stafford Loans, Parent PLUS Loans, and Pell Grants will now be available to eligible students enrolled in Tribeca Flashpoint Academy’s two-year degree programs in Film + Broadcast, Recording Arts, Animation + Visual Effects, and Game + Interactive Media.”Earning Title IV approval is a testament to how effective our college really is,” said Howard A. Tullman, President and CEO of Tribeca Flashpoint Academy. “Since opening in 2007, we’ve helped over 70% of our graduates find gainful employment in their field of study. By granting our students access to federal funds, the DOE has shown that they recognize the high standards we maintain and believe that our programs are of real benefit to all we serve.”For new colleges, Title IV approval is by no means automatic. Rather, it entails a complex, multi-step process designed to thoroughly vet educational institutions based on a wide range of metrics, including accreditation, curriculum, retention, and placement. For Chicago-based TFA, the process also specifically included certification of degree-granting authority from the State of Illinois as well as approval from the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), a nationally recognized accreditor.Today, 80% of college students in America depend on federal financial aid to pay for all or part of their education. With these funds now available to Tribeca Flashpoint Academy students, TFA anticipates greater diversity within the student body.”Paying for a college education can be a real hurdle for just about anyone, especially middle- and low-income families,” said Paula Froehle, EVP of Academic Affairs and Academic Dean. “With Title IV funding, TFA joins the elite list of colleges who can offer an excellent education to outstanding students, regardless of their economic status.”TFA is now accepting applications for their Summer and Fall 2013 terms.
