EPM Music Groupย andย PrazKeez Mediaย have announced a Black History Month collaboration between Gospel Superstarย Earnest Pughย andย ย Dr. Jamal H. Bryant, Senior Pastor at Atlantaโs New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. The track, โKeep Hope Alive,โ was produced by GRAMMYยฎ Award winning producerย Cedric Thompsonย andย Keith Williams, CEO of PrazKeez Media and former pianist forย Rev. Donald Vails.

The song is the first release under the EPM Music Groupโs new partnership withย Shanachie Entertainment, an independent recording company known for its eclectic roster of Roots, Adult R&B, Gospel, and Smooth Jazz artists.
โBut didnโt you know why so many doors were being opened for you,โ Dr. Bryant sermonizes in the opening of this inspiring and hopeful ballad that shows off Pughโs stunning high notes and soulful style of crooning. โGod is not answering your prayer. Heโs answering the prayer of somebody who had the audacity of hope.โ Link: https://ingrv.es/keep-hope-alive-7q4-h
โKeep Hope Aliveโ was originally written and recorded by the late choirmaster,ย Rev.ย Donald Vails, for the 1992ย Gospel Music Workshop of Americaย LPย entitled,ย Live from Salt Lake City, Utah. It borrowed from the Civil Rights anthem, โWe Shall Overcome,โ and Rev.
Jesse Jacksonโs โKeep Hope Aliveโ slogan that was popular during his 1984 U.S. Presidential campaign. The original album peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums sales chart in 1992.ย โThe song resonated in my heart this year more than ever,โ says Pugh. โSo, I felt an urgency to insert this message into todayโs climate of civil unrest, police brutality, and social injustice as a shot in the arm that will empower us with a greater determination to be hopeful that things will get better.โ ย
The โKeep Hope Aliveโ single is currently available on all digital music platforms. Shanachie is also set to release The Very Best of Earnest Pugh in the first quarter of 2023. The twelve-track set features a handful of Pughโs past hits such as โRain on Usโ and โWrapped Up, Tied Up, Tangled Up.โ
It boasts duets with the Late Rance Allen, Zacardi Cortez, and Crystal Aikin. Itโs rounded out with new cuts such as โKeeperโ and a medley of the hymns โI Need Thee Every Hourโ and โThereโs Not a Friend.โ Pughโs hip-slapping current radio single, โGod Did It,โ has risen to No. 25 on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart and continues to build at the gospel format.
