The Kingston, Jamaica native took home the hardware alongside his team. While accepting his coveted award, Kabaka said “Rastafari live … thank you to The Academy and all the other nominees. We’re representing Jamaica, we’re representing the Caribbean, thank you for everybody supporting Reggae music; positive music….

The 15-track disc was released in September, 2022 and was produced by fellow GRAMMY Award-winning artist Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley.

The Recording Academy has been honoring Reggae since 1985 which saw the category ‘Best Reggae Album’ list 5 nominees: Jimmy Cliff, Steel Pulse, Peter Tosh and Yellowman. That year Black Uhuru took home the honor.

Shaggy Heads to Trinidad and Tobago for Carnival

Diamond-selling Reggae star Shaggy is heading to Trinidad and Tobago for Carnival.

Recently releasing collaborations with Kes, TeeJay and Skinny Fabulous, Shaggy heads to the twin republic with his Soca EP entitled ‘In The Mood.’ The artists foray into the high-energy genre has been well received by fans and radio presenters alike.

Slated for performances and appearances, Shaggy will appear with Kes at Tuesday On The Rocks in Port of Spain. Follow Shaggy for more updates @direalshaggy

The Inaugural Island Music Conference (IMC) begins Wednesday February 8th with a stellar lineup of music professionals.
