Born and raised in Bushwick, NY and of Puerto Rican descent, Anthony Ramos first made his mark originating the dual roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the TONY® and GRAMMY® Award-winning Broadway smash “Hamilton,” which recently premiered on Disney +.  From there he went on to appear in additional critically acclaimed projects including “A Star Is Born,” and Spike Lee’s critically acclaimed Netflix series “She’s Gotta Have It.”

Signed to Republic Records, Anthony Ramos released his debut album in the Fall of 2019.  Upon it’s release, The Good & The Bad, debuted in the Top 10 on iTunes Pop Albums Chart. Ramos is currently featured as the voice of King Trollex in the recently released film “Trolls World Tour.” Next year, he will star as the lead role in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s highly anticipated film “In The Heights” directed by Jon M. Chu for Warner Bros.

Celebrated actor and singer Anthony Ramos releases the official video for his latest single “Blessings” today.

Directed by Blythe Thomas, the video co-stars Genessy Castillo and brings back some nostalgia of the days when we could pack a sweaty club and dance until the morning light- which Ramos hopes we can do again soon. “”Blessings” is a celebration of life, a toast to the world opening up, and all the Blessings that come with it,” he says.

“Blessings” follows hot on the heels of “Say Less” which Ramos released last month.  Beyond tallying 1 million total streams, it attracted widespread critical acclaim right out of the gate. Rolling Stone praised it as “an unabashedly steamy piece of R&B, and Billboard declared “his seductive, effervescent croon on “Say Less,” an atmospheric R&B late-night jam in the vein of the Weeknd.”  About the red hot music video featuring Ramos’s In The Heights costar Melissa Barrera, Remezcla wrote, “Ramos and Barrera let off some major steam.” The new music showcases a more sensuous Pop/R&B sound for the artist.

In addition to releasing new music, Ramos recently starred in Calvin Klein’s new Spring 2021 campaign alongside stars like Megan Thee Stallion and Jacob Elordi. This May, he will also appear in HBO’s reimagining of the Emmy Award-winning series In Treatment opposite Uzo Aduba.  He will also star in Lin Manuel Miranda’s highly anticipated big-screen adaptation of In The Heightswhich will be released in theaters and available via HBO Max, on June 11th.

“Stop came from my inability to do just that. It’s a song about stopping, breathing, being present in whatever moment you’re in and finding the beauty in it.”- Anthony Ramos

(August 14, 2020) – Today, celebrated actor and singer Anthony Ramos (Rah-mos) returns with a brand new single and music video entitled “Stop.”

Church bells, handclaps, and shimmering keys carry this upbeat reminder to “carpe diem” as Ramos locks into impressive vocal runs, nimbly rhymed verses, and a powerhouse hook. He urges, “There’s so much more to discover if you, Stop, breathe it in for a moment.”

The accompanying visual seamlessly reflects this spirit. Directed by Blythe Thomas, the cinematic clip follows Brooklyn artist and stylist Anthony Payne. After losing his job at a hair salon in the midst of the Global Pandemic, he grabbed his scissors and comb and decided to bring some light into the world following the tragic murder of George Floyd. The video depicts Payne as he cuts hair outdoors in Brooklyn and supports Black Lives Matter by donating proceeds. It also intercuts footage of Ramos canvasing the streets, linking up with Payne, and delivering a subtle and well-placed message, “VOTE.”

About “Stop,” Ramos shared, “Stop came from my inability to do just that. It’s a song about stopping, breathing, being present in whatever moment you’re in and finding the beauty in it.”
