Songs for Selina Premieres with Jay R Soundtrack

‘Songs for Selina,’ an independent drama exploring themes of power and fame within the music industry, is set to premiere in Philippine cinemas on March 18, 2026. The film’s soundtrack, co-written and produced by Jay R, a prominent figure in the Philippine R&B scene, complements the narrative’s exploration of the industry’s harsh realities.

In addition to the soundtrack, the film features an original score by Emmy Award-winning composer Denise Santos. The project is presented by Jay R’s HomeWorkZ Entertainment and will be distributed by Black Cap Pictures, ensuring a strong local presence for this cinematic endeavor.

Previously, ‘Songs for Selina’ was acquired for North American distribution by Amazon Prime US and Tubi, with a planned release in 2025. The film showcases an all-Filipino cast, including Mica Javier and Rachel Coates, who portray the lead characters Selina and Maya—musical soulmates navigating the complexities of their friendship in a competitive industry.

Jay R, who also serves as an executive producer, emphasizes the significance of independent storytelling in cinema. He highlights the need for diverse narratives in the entertainment sector, advocating for spaces beyond major studio productions. The film’s soundtrack features performances by the lead actors, with songs crafted to enhance the storytelling and reflect authentic experiences within the music landscape.
